Built in 1971, Freya is a classic, 27 foot, double ended Norwegian motor boat.
When she came into our shed in 2020, we determined that a lot of work was needed to save her, but it was all possible with the effective implementation of a comprehensive programme of works.
Freya’s sheer plank, beam shelf, beams and covering boards were all repaired back aft, making everything sound, to then allow a new deck to be laid. There were four sections of Douglas fir planking fitted below the waterline, as well as four new transverse floors.
Her front and rear of the superstructure had a lot of attention, whilst a new coach roof was fitted, after the cabin main bulkhead had a large repair section tended to.
Freya was re-launched without her interior fitted out, or engine, to assess how well the hull would take up, given the amount of work completed. Thankfully, everything went to plan.
